One was the freedom of speech.
At one time in America a man was free to speak his mind and his heart.
Today, sadly, that is no longer true.
Special interest groups have put an end to this.
They, as well as the government, no longer permit freedom of speech.
Somehow a government of the people, by the people and for the people, has been pushed aside and it now blatantly dictates what we will hear and what we are permitted to say.
The next freedom and probably the most important was our freedom to prayer.
Our forefathers realized that any great building needed a strong foundation and they founded the greatest country in the world upon God and Christian values.
Even on the money the saying was put "In God we trust."
In others words the riches of the U.S.A. were given by the grace of God.
We no longer have prayer in our schools.
We no longer have God in most churches.
We have forsaken our God and we wonder why we are suffering.
The freedom of prayer has been taken away.
The next is the freedom of want.
At one time all we wanted was to feed our families, house and clothe them and to see that they were provided with an education and the promise of a future.
Our wants were easily satisfied. But with the freedom of speech and prayer gone our family unit suffered.
Then came some of the evils.
We were given credit cards, instant permission to spend money we did not have.
A culture that once worked for what it obtained was now permitted to obtain what it wanted without first working.
Our wants changed.
We wanted more and more and when we obtained it we were not satisfied.
Our wants had changed so greatly that they became an obsession.
The next is the freedom from fear.
This too is gone.
We are afraid of the very things that once made us strong and kept us free.
You see, with the freedom of speech, the freedom from want, the freedom to pray, all being gone, the family unit and the fact that our elders are not being respected, our children not being disciplined, that the government stepped into the family unit, that we believed liars and thieves who stole our dignity and common sense, these things permitted fear to step in.
I have been thinking on this Fourth of July, how could we put back what was taken from us.
It is still there.
It doesn't have to be put back.
The first thing for us to do is to use our freedom of speech to get down on our hands and knees and to pray to God to guide us, to fulfill our needs and help us disregard our wants, to keep our hearts strong and our minds free of fear.
It's that simple.
America is crying out.
It is time to shake off the dust and let men of honour step forward.
