Clear Head, Sound Mind, Sound Body

I was asked again today about the drives of my dogs do not understand the term DRIVES.

The type of training I use is called Working Service Training. Working Service Training is based on the natural use and cultivation of a dogs natural abilities and those of the handler. To unnaturally chase a ball and ignore a threat, or to choose to go insane over a rolled up towel or piece of meat is not drives. It is DRIVEN. DRIVEN into a madness that over rides common sense and dignity.

I can not understand why anyone would breed a dog incapable of thinking or reacting to anything but a ball.

There is now what is termed protection drive; there is fight drive and now combat drive. ALL of these terms are of no use when a dog is driven into madness. Clear head, sound mind, sound body. This is where natural ability lives. It can not or will not be bastardized by a prop. My dogs are motivated by desire to work. Not driven by madness to perform. This term and its use was found useless at the Trade Center. Real work demands a principle of respect.
It can not be performed as a trick.
