AN EMAIL
The following is a letter which was sent to us by email from John who recently underwent a handler course after purchasing a female dog from us. During his few days with us John learned to handle his dog and how to read her as well. His letter shows clearly that both he and his dog are ready to work if needed. For those who believe in the "contaminated area" theory John's letter proves it does not exist. This was his first track with his new dog; in fact this was his first track ever having tracked only at Baden. To most he would be inexperienced, but he proved desire and faith are the points which count between man and dog. For from these come a bond which promotes communication at a deep level.
We at Baden K9 and Tactical Schools commend this team not just for a successful track but for having the desire and courage to attempt it. Never let the failures or lack of insight of others discourage you from trying. Life is full of a magic that responds to the human spirit and no vessel upon this earth responds more than the dog. Thus we at Baden salute and applaud John and his dog a female which proves that females can and do track out. We all have a gift and that gift is only bound by time, never let anyone live your life or you waste your gift. Each moment is precious and passes but once use it wisely.

Mike & Josh,
I'm sharing this story in writing to help me fully comprehend what Brissa did last Friday evening, October the 5th (just one week after leaving Baden K-9 for her new home). My Mother went on a three day trip to Massachusetts with her friends last week. Upon arriving home (which is located in Milford, Connecticut) my Mother realized that she had been robbed. Her laptop computer was stolen from her condo where it was sitting on her dining room table. We are still unsure if my Mom forgot to lock the door or if the lock was picked. Regardless, the thief entered her home and stole her computer. I was her first call because she thought there was a chance I may have stopped by and borrowed the laptop. Her next call was to the Milford Police Department.
I arrived at my Mom's condo before the police had arrived. On my way over I called Josh to go over a few of the things I learned in training at Baden. He reminded me to be calm, patient and methodic with what I needed to do and then let Brissa do her work. That's what I did.
Arriving before the police I was very careful not to disturb the crime scene so I focused most of my work around the carpet area by the computer. Brissa managed to pick up the scent and away she went... along the outside corridor of the condominium complex. She stopped deliberately in front of another condo. I noted the condo and returned to my Mother's condo. At this point the police arrived and the officer on duty said there would be no search for fingerprints so I focused on different areas of the crime scene. I ran another track and again she returned to the same Condo, then a third. I let the officer on duty know which condo Brissa tracked the scent to and waited while the officer proceeded with the investigation. The woman that answered the door quickly became upset when the officer told her that a scent dog tracked to her apartment from the crime scene. At that time the woman called her son who lives with her but who was not home at the time to ask if he knew anything about the stolen computer. The son told her that he didn't but said it was possible that one of his friends were involved. Apparently the woman reiterated that a dog was outside the apartment. Clearly Brissa had a tremendous psychological impact on the entire investigation.
My Mother just wanted her computer back so the officer told the woman that if the computer was returned promptly there would be no charges pressed. A few hours later the police received a call instructing them to pick up the computer at a designated location. The Milford police returned the laptop to my Mother the following morning.
Brissa passed her first assignment with flying colors! She's a great dog. Please share this story with everybody that may doubt the capabilities of the K-9, especially a Baden K-9! Mike and Josh, as both of you have said repeatedly during my training... trust your dog and let her work without any limitations. I did and wow did she perform! Thank you for your training. I want emphasize my pride in being part of the Baden family!
Sincerely,
John
