LITTLE HEADS/BIG HELMETS

I was speaking with one of our guys after he came back from Iraq. He said that he was moved by the young Marines that he had seen while he was there. He also stated that the image of, "Small heads in big helmets," would always stay with him. That single observation made me think about how profound his words actually were.

These young Marines were just boys. Boys who would have looked as any other boys would look, had they been in ball caps or under motorcycle helmets. Yet, there they were wearing the uniform of the United States Marines. These boys were Marines. They had earned that title it. It had not been given to them. They chose to be there under those large helmets.

Since 1775 Marines have showed a deep desire to not only be free but to protect and preserve that freedom. There was a moment frozen in time when each of them had put down their books or baseball gloves and walked towards this time and place. These, "Little heads in big helmets," are worth noticing. They speak, I think, of many things that we should take time to hear and consider. As we walk across the parking lot to the mall entrance, these, "Little heads in big helmets," guard the entrance to our very lifestyle. Perhaps we could give them the encouragement, the thumbs up once in awhile, just so they know that we know that they are there.

For those that do not know the United States Marines have been around longer than the United States itself. They actually are responsible for what we know as America. These, "Little heads in big helmets," are that paper boys who could never quite hit the front porch; those gangly kid with freckles that insisted on riding bikes across your front lawn. From torn jeans, bugs in bottles to dress blues to oversized helmets. Smile, pray, shed a tear but be proud of those boys with , "Little heads in big helmets". They will deny sleep so that our night may pass in safety. America for America! May GOD teach us to be Americans.

REMEMBER THE FOUR DOOR WRANGLER JEEP?

When we at Baden went looking for a vehicle that could stand up to our travel on and off the field, we found the new four door Jeep Wrangler. We are preparing to do a show for television so the look was also new and went with our type of training. Or so we thought.
