MYTH AND MAYHEM
I suppose it is simply human nature that causes us to collectively appear to be so very thick headed at times. The desire to be a part of a group, even though that group is somewhat questionable or tactless, seems to be of more importance than the traits of honor and dignity.
We often sit in silence when those in leadership or key positions attack or slander any and all who question their logic or knowledge. It is the fear of being alone or being set out of the group that keeps us silent. We forget that to stand up for that which is right and just may set us apart from others but certainly not alone. We stand upon hallowed ground, ground gained by those who have more courage to defend others than desire for self comfort.
I have recently been sent a report on the spaying and neutering of dogs. This report deals with a study done at the University level. It states that these operations do not assist in solving or correcting aggressive behavior in dogs, in fact they add to them among other physical problems. If this is true then what we have been advocating at Baden for years was correct. We have stood our ground against attacks from all sides.
Humane Societies should note and learn from this as should all of those who stayed silent as dogs were butchered simply because of ignorance. Those who work closely with dogs know about dogs. Those who spend their time on chat boards and sport fields where talking time far outweighs walking time, should also learn from this. We owe it to our dogs and to ourselves to find that singular inner light of individuality that makes us unique in this universe to question and think before we join in.
It will now be very interesting to see how all of those ignorant, abusive naysayers just join in and carry on like they always stood against these most torturous acts trying to ignore and deny their foolishness. It will be more interesting how many will still follow them in Myth and Mayhem for no other reason but to belong.
