ONCE UPON A TIME
Even though sport and obedience people may not want to admit it, there was a time when people did not use balls, treats or towels to train their dogs.
It was not that long ago. In fact it was just before the time when spanking your children for being unmannerly or doing something that justified it, was considered wrong.
You know the time when the Bible was more accepted than Penthouse in school. The time before it was legal for teachers to suggest the drugging of our children to get them to
pay attention to boring classroom activities.
In that time boys still ran with dogs that had their testicles and did not carry cancer causing micro-chips placed beneath their
skin by veterinarians that were pretty much as knowledgeable as the children’s teachers in right from wrong. It was a time when kids loved to eat peanut butter and food
allergies caused by chemicals added to crops and soil and in the processing did not provoke allergic reactions. Anyway boys ran with dogs in this time without fear of
falling on sharp objects on play grounds because..well because they were boys and skinning your knees or bloodying your nose was part of growing up not part of a
traumatic experience that was cause for Prozac and counseling that preceded a law suit. They ran and they played even when the dog was still a pup because the breeder didn’t
warn them that the pup could not run or play until at least eight months of age because of hip or elbow problems.
Now where was I..oh yes this boy..well any boy really, ran
and played. I suppose there was no internet or video games in that time so the boy could still run pretty well without distorted vision or causing a frightened public to
run simply because he was running. Anyway, in that time the work dictated the man and dog get the job done. It was based on need and communication. It was simple..
yes that’s it, it was a much simpler time. What ever happened to once upon a time anyway?
