Once again November 11th approaches and the earth seems to hold her breath as a mother holds her child, and we remember. Some of the faces, voices and images have faded like aged photographs, but the dreams and memories are as sharp as ever. They are vivid in the sounds of youth, in the isles of department stores, any street, in any town. These are the sights and sounds of freedom. They echo in our every day lives and are so intertwined in our existence that we often fail to see them. They are gifts. Gifts given through the sacrifices of those who stood and paid the price for which freedom demands. When we speak, eat. Play and sleep. We are enjoying those freedoms. We, you and I, owe much more than a few minutes silence on a cool November morn. Remember. Embrace and protect what so many have given to us.

To all of those who served and are serving, thank you. May God in His Divine wisdom not only protect you, but also awaken us to remember not only what you have done and continue to do, but to know what we must do to remain free. It takes more than simply “Remembering”.
