HOW IMPORTANT IS THE BITE?

The pups have been chosen and the Working Service dog training begins. We have embarked on exercises with our dogs unseen since the Second World War. The genetics are there for these pups to be trained in the same manner that the most elite teams did many years ago. This type of training is real and withstands all foolishness and attempts to add to it or take away from it. Baden dogs reflect Working Service training. We witness the awesome ability of the dog in live theatre, from pup to K-9 Soldier. The bite cannot be taught. It can be tampered with. To do bite after bite on a field with out understanding is to promote failure in a real situation. There are many differences in the handler and emotion that suggest to the dog how serious the bite is. Many handlers know the importance of good back up in their line of work. So does the dog. What follows is an email from a gentleman in Law Enforcement who has 2 Baden dogs. How important is the bite you ask. Well it depends what you’re using your dog for. I have worked both sport dogs and Baden dogs in the nastiest of life or death situations on the mean streets where the people we deal with will kill you and certainly kill your dog. This I have noticed with my old sport K-9 and my partner’s sport dogs. The suspect that needs to apprehended with a short chase, that maybe the person is a little faster than the human cop and isn’t a real fighter or a great danger is the perfect situation for the sport dogs because its almost like a game. When the guy is caught he gives up and he is not hurt and the dog is not hurt. He usually has minor wounds that just need to be cleaned due to the bacteria’s in the dog’s mouth. This is fine if that is all you need but I use the analogy of this type of dog is like a police officer carrying a shotgun with no ammo. The empty shotgun is very useful. You can rack the action scaring the hell out of someone. If push comes to shove you can hit someone with it causing damage. But if you need this gun to shoot and take the conflict to the next level your going to die because the gun doesn’t have what it takes. A Baden dog or at least the ones I have and the ones that I have seen working while training with mike are like carrying that shotgun loaded. I know K-9 handlers (sporters) that are leery about sending their dog because they know the dog can’t perform in that type of fight so they only will send their dogs on weaker suspects that don’t oppose any threat. And they will never train to do so. How important is the bite you ask... how important is it to load your gun before getting into a firefight? LOAD UP AND GET A BADEN DOG!

REMEMBER THE FOUR DOOR WRANGLER JEEP?

When we at Baden went looking for a vehicle that could stand up to our travel on and off the field, we found the new four door Jeep Wrangler. We are preparing to do a show for television so the look was also new and went with our type of training. Or so we thought.
